Osteopathy

Osteopathic Manual Therapy represents the practical application of Osteopathic principles, delivered by skilled practitioners known as Osteopathic Manual Therapists (OMTs). This therapeutic approach emphasizes the identification of motion restrictions and asymmetries within the body, aiming to promote normal movement and overall functionality.

When you book in for an Osteopathic appointment at our office, you can anticipate a comprehensive and dynamic assessment of your body’s movement patterns. This assessment is followed by a personalized treatment plan tailored to address your specific needs and goals.

Treatment often incorporates joint mobilization and soft tissue techniques designed to eliminate obstacles that hinder the proper nourishment and drainage of your body’s tissues. OMT practitioners draw on their extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, combined with exceptional palpation skills, to accurately pinpoint and address these restrictions. This distinctive method not only alleviates symptoms but also tackles their underlying causes, offering a more enduring solution rather than just temporary relief.

Through this holistic and individualized approach, Osteopathic Manual Therapy aims to restore balance and enhance your body’s innate healing capabilities, ultimately improving your overall health and well-being.

Our Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Kennedy Yarde

Originally from Markham Ontario, Kennedy Yarde is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner with a passion for holistic treatment and the ability to facilitate the body’s self healing and self regulating mechanisms. Osteopathy utilizes a wide-variety of therapeutic manual techniques dictated by a practitioner’s understanding of osteopathic principles and the structural individuality of each client. Through manual manipulation, osteopathic practitioners are able to influence all areas of the body in order to optimize the body’s inherent ability to self-heal. Osteopathic manipulative treatment is used as a means of facilitating these normal mechanisms by addressing areas of tissue strain, stress or dysfunction that may impede normal neural, vascular, or lymphatic flow. This frees all systems of the body from obstruction reducing symptoms, increasing energy, and leading to overall improved health.

Kennedy grew up dancing competitively for 19 years and was surrounded by health and manual therapy for much of her adolescence. She was able to witness first-hand the benefits osteopathic treatment could have on athletes and individuals struggling with a variety of aches and discomforts. Her passion for health ultimately lead her to pursue an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from Western University in London, Ontario. Following this, she strived to continue her knowledge of anatomy and physiology and went on to complete a Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario. While at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, Kennedy completed 4200 hours of training including 1000 supervised clinical hours. She decided to take her training to the West Coast to enjoy the outdoor activities British Columbia has to offer, all while continuing her osteopathic career. When she’s not in the clinic, Kennedy can be found in the outdoors, exploring hiking trails or relaxing on the beach. Kennedy’s approach to therapy is individually based on what each patient requires. She has a passion for engaging with patients to make them feel healthy not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally. She looks forward to supporting her clients in increasing their quality of life.
